The Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra has a growing and enthusiastic following after their inaugural launch with the Classic in the Mall Series in 2018.
Artistic Director Markus Kuchenbuch’s vision is to share and celebrate live classical & contemporary music from the Centre, through an annual series of 6 concerts for the enjoyment of our vibrant community.
The ASWCO has frequented Darwin Festival, Desert Song Festival, Desert Festival, Nyinkka Nyunyu Art and Culture Centre, Leliyn/Nitmiluk National Park and visited Tennant Creek High School, Beswick Primary School, Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre, Katherine Finch Cafe, Nauiyu Community and Jilkminggan Community Primary School with their education program
With talented musicians and instruments from up to 75 nations Alice Springs is the ideal ground to showcase a blend of cross cultural, original, classical and contemporary music.
The up to 19 player strong Ensemble has been praised by audiences not only for their cross over of styles and genres but also their flexibility in adding great depth to their diverse repertoire.
The Orchestra’s aim is to enliven and invigorate Alice Springs’ unique places including the gardens, churches, malls, historic buildings and natural World Heritage settings.
