One of Australia’s most successful composers of classical music is coming, for the first time, to Alice Springs. Elena Kats-Chernin will spend a week with the Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra leading to a concert at Araluen Arts precinct of her new commissioned work RED CENTRE for ASWCO.

Alice Springs hosting a leading Australian and International performing contemporary composer with public rehearsals accessible to schoolchildren and guests plus an evening of excellence at the Araluen Theatre – This is a rare opportunity for Centralians to engage with a gifted multi-talented artist of renown; to learn, to share, and to celebrate the combined creative talents of the town and to showcase its impressive desert landscapes.  More Info >

Fundraising Campaign

alicewco’s final fundraising campaign is to raise funds to help document/film this once-in-a-decade live event with one of Australia’s biggest names in contemporary classical music and the Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra.

The Alice WCO has earned a reputation performing cross-cultural music in breathtaking settings throughout the Territory presenting a fine mix of classical contemporary chamber music with a touch of the outlandish.

Under the Artistic Directorship of Markus Kuchenbuch, the ASWCO presents an annual program of six concerts – many of which are held within the dramatic natural landscapes of Alice Springs’ surrounds. Combined with a continuing education program and annual tour through remote Indigenous communities, the orchestra focuses on inclusivity and enjoyment for diverse audiences. The ASWCO provides a unique catalyst for sharing and improving knowledge and appreciation of this remote town and beautiful desert region which we call home.
