Leading Alice Springs Orchestra to tour remote regions en route to Darwin Festival
The Alice Springs World Chamber Orchestra has announced a whirlwind Education Tour in the lead-up to the 2022 Darwin Festival in August.
The ASWCO will share its latest classical contemporary chamber music program with audiences in the Barkly, Roper Gulf and Five Rivers Region.
Concerts will be held over four days (August 4-8) at Tennant Creek’s Barkly Regional Arts Centre, Manyalluk Community and in the spectacular Leliyn (Edith Falls) Nitmiluk National Park.
The concerts will feature the core quintet of the 12-player strong ASWCO, now in its fourth year and embraced by local audiences for its crossover of styles and genres and the agility and depth it brings a diverse repertoire spanning Mozart to Piazzolla and Max Richter to Radiohead to the specially commissioned Red Centre Suite by leading Australian classical contemporary composer Elena Kats-Chernin, who visited the Red Centre in May for the first time to work with and perform with the orchestra in Alice Springs.
We hope to see you on the road as we grow from our roots as a community orchestra into Mparntwe Alice Springs’ most exciting and accomplished orchestra.
